Geo-Hydro Engineers provided comprehensive construction materials testing and inspection services for the Matthews Fire Station in Matthews, North Carolina. The project consists of an approximately 13,000–square–foot, single–story fire station featuring a structural steel frame, masonry and metal stud walls, wood roof trusses, and slab–on–grade construction supported by shallow foundations, along with associated site improvements. Services included subgrade evaluations and field density testing, shallow foundation bearing evaluations, and observation of reinforcing steel to verify conformance with project documents. Geo-Hydro also performed concrete sampling and testing, masonry and grout testing, structural and cold–formed steel inspections, and related construction observations in accordance with applicable ASTM standards and building code requirements, supporting quality control throughout construction.
