J-364 Poultry Science Complex

Project Quick Facts

About J-364 Poultry Science Complex:

The new Poultry Science Building in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is a technologically advanced facility that is more than 70,000 square feet outfitted with state-of-the-art instructional and research spaces. Rock was present within the building footprint and Geo-Hydro’s geotechnical team observed air percussive drilling to document quality of rock to verify acceptability of the shallow foundation system. The structure is constructed of concrete, masonry, and structural steel. Geo-Hydro performed construction materials testing, special inspections, and NPDES Compliance inspections for the project.

Complexity Highlight: A delay in concrete placement may have resulted in a cold joint within the slab. Geo-Hydro and the design team were able to swiftly collect core samples in the suspected area for tension testing and provide remediation recommendations.
